Welcome to the Third Coast Festival Conference network

Though the 2008 TCF Conference has come and gone we can't bring ourselves to admit it's REALLY over. Instead we hope to keep a discussion going here, and that folks will upload photos from the gathering (who captured the SALT/CDS dance-off at the PRX party?) and share thoughts about the sessions they attended, the winners of the 2008 TCF/Richard H. Driehaus Foundation Competition, and general impressions from all of the Conference happenings. We'll continue to post photos and other post-Conference tidbits over time, so check back often.

Yrs, TCF Staff

TCF Crowd Sculpture

Ever wonder what it sounds like when hundreds of radio producers who haven't seen each other in ages mill about in a hotel ballroom stocked with free drinks and a kind-of-ridiculous-but-undeniably-tasty mashed potato bar? Whether or not your answer is yes, check out this neat, 7-minute "crowd sculpture" recorded by sound artist Glenn Weyant, who just happened to have his recording equipment on hand (imag… Continue

Post-Ceremony Hoopla is ON

Happy to announce that this year's Post-Ceremony Hoopla location is set to commence immediately following this year's Awards Ceremony on Saturday, October 11th. It was harder to find a place in Evanston, because we're unfamiliar with what happens where up there, but Union Pizzeria has kindly agreed to stay open (past the usual 11pm closing time) until 1:30am, just to serve drinks and snacks to a bunch of gussied-up radio producers from around the count… Continue

Faces to Voices to Names

I'm back from the PRPD Conference in Los Angeles, which in some ways felt like a great way to warm up for the TCF Conference. Tons of radio folks gathered for a few days to talk of nothing but radio, develop and deepen connections among colleagues and friends old and new, and push the boundaries of necessary sleep allotment. It was fascinating to put some faces to voices to names - (… Continue

AIR wants you to pitch the PERFECT PITCH at Third Coast!

Posting on behalf of Neenah Ellis (pitch@airmedia.org): Hello friends and colleagues – I’m announcing two panels sponsored by AIR to be held at the Third Coast Festival. They’re called PERFECT PITCH and they will pull back the curtain on one of the most difficult and important things every producer needs to master: pitching a story. Seven panelists - editors and producers from a wide variety of programs - have agreed to hear pitches in open session. We’re trying to expand opportunities this y… Continue

Introducing...the Radio Ballads

We just posted a fantastic documentary ("Like Blackpool Went Through Rock") on the TCF website. It's about a body of work collectively known as the Radio Ballads  (8 one-hour docs) that was produced for the BBC in… Continue
